What is hyaluronic acid
Hyaluronic acid is a substance that the body produces on its own. In the skin it binds water, giving the skin elasticity and plumpness. With age, sun exposure and stress, its levels in the skin decline, which is why it is added to skincare.
Large and small molecules: what is the difference
Standard hyaluronic acid has a large molecule. It forms a fine film on the skin's surface that holds in moisture and instantly smooths the skin. However, it does not reach the deeper layers of the skin.
Low-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid has molecules that are many times smaller. How to use hyaluronic acid correctly
- On clean, damp skin. Hyaluronic acid binds water, so apply it after your toner while the skin is still slightly damp.
- In layers. First the toner, then the serum and finally a cream that locks in hydration.
- Morning and evening. Hydration works best with regular use; the first results are usually visible after 2 to 4 weeks.
