What collagen does in the skin
Collagen is a protein that forms the skin's support structure. It is what keeps the skin firm and elastic. From around the age of 25, the body produces less and less of it, which gradually shows as a loss of firmness, fine lines and a tired appearance.
Why collagen in a cream cannot replace your own
The collagen molecule is large. Collagen applied to the skin therefore cannot simply “top up” the collagen in the deeper layers of the skin. On the skin's surface, however, it acts as an excellent moisturising agent and instantly softens the skin.
In the long term, it is therefore more important to support the skin in producing collagen itself: with sufficient hydration, sun protection and active ingredients that support the skin's natural processes.
Fermented collagen: the Hyalogy CLG line approach
The Hyalogy CLG line from the Japanese brand Forlle'd works with fermented collagen and low-molecular-weight ingredients. Fermentation breaks large molecules down into smaller parts. According to the manufacturer, this allows the skincare to hydrate the skin while also supporting its own collagen production.

How to build a routine for firmer skin
- Gentle cleansing. Enzo Powder is an enzyme cleansing powder that gently removes dead cells so the skin can better absorb the following steps.
- Serum. Apply CLG Essence morning and evening after your toner.
- Cream. CLG Cream locks in hydration and nourishes the skin.
- Sun protection during the day. UV radiation is one of the main reasons collagen in the skin declines.
When to expect results
The skin needs approximately 4 weeks to renew itself. You will usually notice the first difference in hydration after a few days, and a change in skin firmness after 1 to 2 months of regular use.
